As you wander along the trails, discover some of the region’s most beautiful views. Don’t forget your camera to capture panoramic views of more than 180 degrees, from about 200 meters above the Saguenay Fjord. The vastness of the fjord, the mountains, and the surrounding forest offer a breathtaking spectacle, no matter the season.

The boreal forest covers more than half of Canada’s land area. It is one of the largest forest ecosystems on the planet and is home to a wide variety of species. In Quebec, this vast coniferous forest covers approximately 761,000 square kilometers, or nearly half the province’s total area.

The black spruce is one of the most common species there, along with the jack pine, balsam fir, white spruce, and larch. Several deciduous trees, including maple, sugar maple, paper birch, trembling aspen, oak, and linden, also contribute to the richness of this ecosystem.

The wildlife inhabiting this forest is just as diverse. About thirty species of mammals can be observed there, including the beaver, red fox, coyote, wolf, mink, white-tailed deer, caribou, moose, black bear, muskrat, hare, and wood mouse. More than 150 species of birds also nest there, including the pileated woodpecker, the great gray owl, various species of falcons, owls, and ducks.
